A Closer Look at Phoenix

Since 1988, the Arizona Cardinals football team has given Phoenix's NFL fans a reason to paint their bodies and get loud and emotional in sports bars. The team has a storied history and that dates back to the 19th century, making it the oldest, continually run professional football team in the U.S. If you find yourself in Phoenix during football season, you might find it helpful to know these Cardinal playoff highlights (there aren't many...):
  • Being deemed league champion in 1925 by way of league record only; there were no play-off games back then (oh, the horror!)
  • Winning the NFL championship title game in 1947
  • Making it to the playoffs in 1998
  • Winning the NFC West title in 2008 before being defeated in the Super Bowl by the Pittsburgh Steelers in a game that literally went down to the wire

So what's in store for Phoenix's football team in the upcoming season? You'll just have to wait and see...the preseason begins on August 13 and the first home game will be held on August 22.
